I only wish there were more Kosher restaurants in the Boston area. Your establishment performs a very badly needed service to observant Jews.

We can never wait to visit Boston so we can eat at Rubin's. It's always the start, end, and frequently middle of a great trip to the old country.

When Cynthia and I were living in California, before we were keeping
kosher, we acquired a taste for _really_good_ Japanese sushi (raw fish
delicacies).
We've had kosher sushi in New York, and well, sadly, it was so mediocre as
to not be worth having again. For those who love sushi (admittedly an
acquired taste) good sushi is always worth having again. [smile]
For sushi to be really good, the fish must be extraordinarily fresh and
carefully chosen. Another hallmark of really good sushi is that the rice
has exactly the right flavor and consistency, which is a lot more difficult
to attain than most people think. And finally, there's artistry. Japanese
sushi must be pleasing to the eye as well as to the palate. (Order the
"caterpilla" if you like avocado.)
Disclaimer: Neither Cynthia nor I have any stock in Rubin's. [smile]
The sushi we had at Rubin's earlier today was first-class in every
way. Now, sushi can be a bit costly, so we only sampled a few of the
specialties. But having spoken with the sushi chef and having sampled what
we did, there's no doubt in my mind that Boston (Brookline, that is) now
has the best kosher Japanese sushi in North America. (Okay, I haven't
tasted all the kosher sushi in North America, but I've tasted a good
sample, and nothing comes close to Rubin's food quality and presentation.)
Strange as it seems to those who know me, sometimes I can't find anything
to be critical of.
Thanks, Rubin's. Yasher koach.

Haven't been there in 6 years. For my birthday (8/16) we were on our way to Maine and we got to make a pit stop at Rubins. Still my Favorite Boston area kosher restaurant!!!

One of my favorite places anywhere. The hot Romanian pastrami is perfect. But you really have to try the Rubin's Pastrami Burger - it is perfect!
